In our new apartment, there is a small area next to the kitchen which will serve as our dining room / nook. I’m really excited about this particular space because there is a beautiful blank wall on one side, perfect for a gallery wall and/or interesting sideboard and decor, and on the other side there is a large window, which floods the area with lots of natural light.
At first I had no idea where to start with this area, knowing that I at least needed the basics: a dining table and some chairs. But what style of table? What style of chairs? What color? I needed some constraints, and luckily my mom found the perfect deal while out consignment shopping: a gorgeous replica of a mid-century modern tulip table, in white about 41″ across. It was the kickstart I needed for this space! Now I think I’ve narrowed it down to a few specific styles in the moodboard below. I’m thinking of bringing in natural elements with perhaps a round jute rug, cowhide, wishbone wooden chairs, and plants. I wish I had enough space for a larger dining table, but I think this small table that my mom picked up will be perfect in the interim. And it was only $250!
